about

The main instrument used for this piece is a teak wood percussion instrument from Africa called a balafon. It consists of 13 notes in a two-octave range, and looks like a xylophone with gourds tied underneath to give the wood more resonance. This piece is for two players, and was double tracked by one musician. A slap echo was produced live with a stereo Dokorder open reel tape deck while taping live.
