about

This was a huge analog tape project that began with an outdoor recording of some afternoon traffic sounds: cars, trucks, buses and the occasional motorcycle. The tape was then extensively edited and the best "noises" were then compiled into the base track, using every tape manipulative trick in the book. Instead of the minimoog, the ARP Odyssey was the synth of choice, with its enviable sample-and-hold feature, meticulously controlled with finger and slider. Every three minutes a new sound is introduced, slowly building upon the foundation until the familiar everyday occurrence becomes an uncommon frightful clamor of immense proportions. It has come to the artist's attention, that when played through a stereo in a room with open windows, this can easily become a listener's experiment with four-channel surround sound playback. A true invasion of continuum!
