about

A toy metal ratchet opens this piece, with the 48" Zildjian being the center of attention. A band of rods tied together as one stick makes for a light, yet sturdy utensil for quick strikes. Another toy noise-maker is heard here, similar in structure to the LP flex-a-tone, and a home-made version of their thunder drum is used briefly. Near the end, a squeeze-horn makes itself known, much like the ones used on childrens' bicycles. These sounds are used in moderation in order to complement the tam tam, and provide a contrast of sounds not reverberated except as echoed on the big gong.
