about

Recorded from 1983-1986, the Chess Kingdom was made into Anvil Creations' Cassette album #22, just before Moore/Myers released their first tape, Reaching Beyond the Sphere. It was a turbulent time in Ken's life, and hot on the heels of his Prism Eye Glass tape, these two were intended to be another Frame of Reference/Sense of Recreation pair. Having remastered these pieces from the original tapes, one third of this album is actually piano-based compositions, which makes it more similar to the 1982 release, In a Pound of Logic. However you see it, The Chess Kingdom is Ken's last keyboard-based compositional work, concentrating on more abstract and percussion-based recordings after this one.
