about

This album was recorded between 1988 and 1990. It was originally released as "Plaster Anvil" through the Creative Musicians Coalition, and advertised in their AfterTouch magazine in 1991. By this time, Anvil Creations was not active in the mail-order business, and Ron Wallace allowed a full page ad to be taken out for this album, but since it was a cassette only release, and compact discs were well established as the medium of the decade, it did not sell well.

In contrast to Ken's habit of keeping a stereo master on open reel, this album was saved and copied onto a Zenith VCR using audio only. The tape was of excellent quality (as was the video machine), however, the age of the deck required maintenance, and when it came back to ACS, it no longer tracked the tape correctly. It was Ken's good fortune to have bought a dedicated VCR before they were discontinued, and the SANYO model just happened to play the tape [nearly flawlessly].

While the first three tracks on this album reflect Ken's time with the music duo Moore/Myers, the rest of the album was done exclusively on the Emu EMAX I sampling keyboard, often times utilizing the sequencer feature to loop and create the basic tracks. Many of the songs on side one of the cassette tape were saved to CD-R, and were released on Anvil Creations Studio: A History of Music, Volume 2. One track even appeared on his "The Chess Kingdom" release on Bandcamp, although in sketch form.

Moore/Myers Ohio

Ken Moore has been using sound as music since 1975. This site began as a promotion for the Moore/Myers band, which released two albums in the 1980s. Now, Ken has expanded his talents to include percussion and abstract recordings from the Gong Room. With the addition of Short Story, ACS is creating even better adventurous sounds, more than ever before. ... more
